How to Plan your website?

Your starting point for developing the specifications and requirements necessary to define you Web Site purpose, planning and structure.

9 things you MUST consider for a website?

Decisions made at the first stage can, and will, affect the bottom line of a website. Having a plan of action is key to success and it will help dictate decisions moving on.

  1. The purpose of the Web Site?
  2. The goals of the Web Site : Or what the website should achieve? For example: Market your services, Introduce your products or Sell yours services/Products; Or to gain feedback from your customers and prospective clients…
  3. Who will be the target audience? What kind of visitors are your expecting? Age, genre, demography…
  4. The Web Site content: Most of people think that the heart of the website is the design. It is totally wrong, the design is only here to emphasize the content. The content is king. Web Site design is based on its content, not vice versa.
Text contents will form the basis for the pages and/or categories, and define the overall navigation structure of the Web Site. Some basic text contents might include:

    • who you are (you, your company, or organization)
    • what you do
    • how to contact you
    • list of services or products
    • other text content pertinent to the purpose of the site
    • Photographs or other images (to enhance or illustrate the text)
    • Logo (do you have one? if not, one can be designed)
    • Does my organization have any existing graphics, informational or marketing materials that could be used online? eg. Logos, photos, brochures, documents, sound files, databases, etc.
  5. The Budget: How much do I want to spend on a Web Site? Disclosing your budget to your website developer ensure that you will have a tailored quotation and will avoid a waste of time and resources for both sides.
  6. The Server costs: Hosting, Domain Name Registration. If it necessary to inform
  7. Who will handle personnel considerations once the Web Site is online?
  8. Who will be in charge of the maintenance and monitoring the website?
    • Who will respond to email from the Web Site?
    • What new email addresses do you require
    • Who will collect any online form information gathered?
    • Who will coordinate new and updated information for placement the website?
    • Do I want to maintain the Web Site in-house or do I want to\ out-source this task to the web design company?
